Natural Selection
"In the installation How the Artist Was Led to the Study of Nature (2017), Andy Holden recreated Richard Pearson’s illegal collection of wild birds eggs, which was uncovered by RSPB officers in a raid in 2006. The eggs that you see in the exhibition have been handmade by Peter Rowland – a replica birds’ egg craftsman."
My friend and I visited the Towner Art Gallery. As usual neither of us liked the modern stuff but we were impressed by the etchings and lino cuts after having taken the course. We had an interesting chat with the curator about what makes art Art. We didn't agree... Painting the background wall green to hang dodgy paintings against doesn't make them more appealing. Likewise a tent shaped and coloured like a mountain pitched in the Australian Outback did not elevate my senses
To wrap up our afternoon we took advantage of the unexpected sunshine to visit a seafront cafe for a cuppa and to talk about things more interesting than modern art.
