Play rehearsal

Sue and I are volunteer actors in a staged reading of a play-in-progress, written by a Bhutanese refugee, about a Muslim family arriving in the USA and coping not only with culture change but with Islamophobia and xenophobia as well. These three are playing the mom (the actress is actually from Myanmar), the teenager (Vietnamese), and the father (African-American) arriving at Portland airport during competing demonstrations. Sue and I are the "Welcome" group, and a couple of other locals are the "Go Home" group, and we each play additional roles in the play. This was only our third rehearsal, and we perform Friday night. Fortunately it's only a staged reading, but we're a little nervous. No one but me has ever acted before, and we could have used more rehearsal time.
