Fakten Verwirren Mich
The title is an attempt to translate what I saw in a window here.
It is odd how much English is used in advertising here. And something else I find quite surprising is the amount of sexism in advertising here. I mean I think of Germany as a modern, progressive* country where women are afforded the same opportunities as men.
But.
Advertising here is stuck in the worst parts of the 70s.
It's almost like some things just never change.
Buy a bouquet from a florist here and it will look the same as from any other florist. There is one way of building a bouquet.
Buy a filled roll here and if it has salad in, then it always has a slice of egg in as well - always. Because rolls with salad always have a slice of egg in.
Fly on a Lufthansa plane and notice how many people order tomato juice when they fly. And they only drink tomato juice when they fly.**
And if you eat in a restaurant, then your dish always comes with a garnish. A sprinkle of chopped parsley and a slice of lemon. Because you HAVE to have a garnish
And so with advertising, the product needs a scantily clad woman.
I'd just like to point out that none of these things need to be like that. They are but they don't have to be. Really.
*The AfD don't count.
** I'm prepared to accept that tomato juice with salt and pepper might be something that actually tastes of anything at 30000 feet, but still.
