A Damn Fine Duck
After a weekend of Fish, back to something else close to my heart ... ducks!
We wanted to stop off somewhere on the way back from Leamington Spa. Our first choice was to pop up the road to Middleton Lakes, but the weather when we woke up was dank, drizzly and foggy, and having been to Middleton before, we knew it would be muddy there, an there is no shelter if the rain became more persistent. So our next choice was Slimbridge. At least it paved there, so no worries on traipsing through muck.
It was still fairly gloomy at Slimbridge, but at least we could have a sit down in the hides there. There wasn't a great deal to see in fairness. The Rushy pond is filling back up with the wintering ducks, and there was a fair smattering of Pintails there. Pintails are stunning looking bird, and in fact, I have a canvas of one I took at Slimbridge a couple of years back on my living room wall.
We dropped my brother off, and finally got home around tea time. We managed to stay awake through the Elite League Speedway Grand Final, and congrats to Swindon Robins on the title win, and then it was bedtime!
No rest for the wicked as we have a half past five start tomorrow for a breakfast club meeting!
