Golden Hour Goldfinch

It was dry and mild but dull. I enjoyed walking around Seventy Acres Lake looking and listening for signs of spring. Lots of lovely birdsong and the sound of woodpeckers drumming. The ducks and coots were squabbling and I saw one female mallard being relentlessly pursued by five suitors. Some swans were nesting, others aggressively busking. Crows and magpies were building.

Just after five the sun broke through the clouds and I stood on the deck near the Bittern Hide watching all the activity on the lake. The gulls were making a real row but I was still able to hear various tweety birds as they visited the pussywillow on the bank. I got golden hour shots of long tailed tits and chaffinches and at 5:30 I heard the song of a goldfinch and managed to capture one. :)
