A Record Shot
In birding circles, this generally means a poor photograph which nevertheless acts as evidence that a particular bird has been seen.
The first sighting of Curlews on our local uplands, along with hearing their bubbling calls is always a special moment in the annual cycle of comings and goings. This is also a record shot of my first proper walk up there for a little while. I saw lots of Lapwings and Meadow Pipits establishing themselves on their nesting grounds and there were plenty of Red Grouse. I even got a sighting of a Red Kite, which made up for not seeing my target bird for the day - a Stonechat.
