A lovely day
Today was a thoroughly fine day. It started off well when I received a brief Email from an old friend from both high school and college. We didn't really know each other before college, despite sharing many of the same classes, but he and I were the only Seniors from our school to get into my university. We saw each other occasionally while in college, but didn't become friends until some time later. For a number of years we talked on the phone several times a year, and we even met up once some 15 years ago. Then we lost contact, and that saddened me. I've been planning to get in touch with him to see if he too is planning to attend the reunion, so it made me really happy that he got to me first.
I had thought about going to Sky Nursery to photograph plants and flowers, but I wanted to go with Endless Weekend and she was feeling under the weather. So I went back to Macys, returned a shirt I'd bought the other day, and bought some slacks I'd tried on but didn't buy the first time. Then it was off to the Shoreline Library, where I took some new shots of the cherry trees I blipped on February 26. They're starting to show some some color.
All the way home the radio was playing Aaron Copland's score for the ballet Billy the Kid, a piece I love, so my good mood continued. I suddenly remembered that I have actually seen a production of Billy the Kid performed by American Ballet Theater some 50 years ago! It was wonderful, and I find that I even have a mental image of the photos of the dancers in the program. How strange it is that the mind holds on to these odds and ends for so many years.
The temperature was almost 20 degrees above normal and the sun was glorious. We are starting to cool down and cloud up now, getting ready for tomorrow, but I haven't had such a nice day in a long time. Hope you all had lovely days too.
