Faces from the past
an eerie and fascinating looking display of faces from one of the Dutch colonies. Immortalised in the Rjiksmuseum.
One of the best museums I have been to, mainly because I could admire the Dutch masters of the Golden Age in real. A lot of these pictures were familiar to me, but seeing the brush strokes and knowledge of light and paint from all those years ago was so good to see. Unreservedly.
The plastercasts of indigenous people from their colonies I was not so sure of. I stood looking at them for a long time, pondering what their lives were like.
