One Potato, Two Potato ......
We came home from Borders Organic Gardeners' annual Potato Day with 30 tiny tubers.
We always buy our seed tatties there, as there's a huge choice and you buy them individually. We got a few each of Arran Pilot, Erna, Isle of Jura, Sarpo Shona, Pink Fir Apple and Jazzy. It must be fun to name a potato!
Together with onion and shallot sets, and a hand-turned dibber, (which I didn't need but it was beautiful), that was our lot for today. We resisted the organic meat, the farm cheeses, the fruit bushes and a hundred other temptations - all locally produced.
As the picture shows, the snow has not totally disappeared, there are huge lakes of meltwater in the fields and driving through the puddles is a bit like visiting an open-air car wash. But green shoots are showing - the the temperature got up to 8 degrees!
