Today's the day .............................. to go to the exhibition

Spent quite a lot of today in one of my most favourite places - the Victoria and Albert Museum. It's an incredible building in its own right, never mind the treasures that are to be found inside. These columns surround the central courtyard where you can sit outside and enjoy the garden.

There were a couple of special exhibitions that I wanted to see. One was a display of Ballgowns, showcasing British glamour since 1950 and had lots of iconic dresses - like the one covered in pearls with a little bolero top and stand-up collar that Princess Diana wore somewhere.

The other one - that just about blew me away - was all about Hollywood Costume. It must have cost several million pounds to put this exhibition together but it was worth it. It was so well done - and just when you thought that you had seen the lot - there was something else to make you gasp in wonder. Go and see it if ever you get the chance.

I finished off with a much less extravagant but nevertheless very interesting exhibition called Code Breaker at the Science Museum. It was about the life and work of Alan Turing - probably most well known for his wartime codebreaking exploits at Bletchley Park during the Second World War.

By the end of the day, I was exhibitioned out - and ready for the train journey back to Kendal .........................
