West Runton Beach
We had a lovely long lie in today, then I cooked brunch of eggs muffin beans and mushrooms while Jon took the dog out. We ate in the conservatory and it was a world away from the weather this time last week. No need even for the radiator to be plugged in.
Then a clearing out and sorting in the garage morning had been planned. We even got Henry involved. While we were doing that, the chickens decided to escape to the field at the back. The lure of fresh grass saw them wading through the very full ditch and they were off. It is a bit of a worry, as Jon saw an enormous fox wandering across the road and into the field at 10.30am today. I have never seen a fox round here, but it would be naive to think there aren't any, as we are in the country.
After lunch Jon and I drove to Morrison's for a few bits then on to West Runton. We took the metal detector and had a wander. The beach was ankle deep in old dead seaweed. It was bouncy to walk on. Tangled up in it, hundreds of dead bits of crabs, shells legs. Plus quite a few dead dog fish - there were shrieks of 'shark' as a group of children discovered them. So the current weather is not being that kind to the sea creatures. It had a strong fishy smell all only the beach. I didn't find any treasure, only rubbish, but it was fun (for me anyway- Jon was bored!!)
We had a Morrison's curry for tea, and then Jon took Henry to his party in Cromer.
Now we are going to watch Dunkirk on DVD. Our treat to ourselves as the cinema films didn't fit in, timewise, with Henry's party. But we are glad, as we can rustle our popcorn as much as we like at home and drink wine too!
A good day.
