Survivors

This time last week our garden was covered in thick snow and I feared we had lost all our flowers that were in bloom - but no, here are the hellebores looking healthy and perfectly fine, they are such hardy little survivors.

Last night we had a dinner at the school - as Gavin is a governor we quite often have various dinners for one reason or another. I was delighted to find that I had been seated next to Marcus Wareing, who is a fellow parent of the school. We had some very interesting conversations, including where he likes to eat out, the demise of Jamie Oliver's restaurants, the problems with the school food - the evening flew by and was very entertaining.

Tonight I am back at school as we have a Quiz Night for the parents of Thomas' house - suggested by and organised by a few of us mums in the house. We are taking our own food and drinks and having a picnic style supper - our 'team', a table of 9 of us, will be having quite a feast as we planned what everyone is bringing and it all sounds delicious. I spent the morning making my quinoa salad with herbs, pomegranate, feta and peppadews. I am about to go make a tomato and mozzarella salad which I will also be taking along. It should be a fun evening!

It is Mothering Sunday this weekend, and I am looking forward to being taken out to lunch by Thomas Gavin. And thank goodness it is much warmer than last weekend's arctic freeze!
