Down with the Twitchers

Twitchers were out in force this afternoon in Hemel Hempstead, following reports of a rare subspecies of Canada Goose.

The Canada Goose Branta canadensis is now a common site throughout the British Isles, but this subspecies Branta canadensis hemelii known locally as 'The Yellow Tit' seems to be unique to the water gardens adjacent to TK Maxx.

Having not been seen for the past nine months, 'The Yellow Tit', seen here in full winter plumage, has made a welcome return. Twitchers say they will wait until its mate also returns, so they can see a nice pair of Yellow Tits.

Carlos, the manager of Pizza Express told me they have remained open for the past 48 hours to cope with the hundreds of twichers buying quatro fromagio pizzas, said to be the staple diet of the Yellow Tits.

Whilst waiting to capture this shot of the rare goose, I popped into T K Maxx to buy some new underwear.
At the checkout the young male assistant told me:

"We don't exchange bottoms"

" That's OK" I said. "I'm quite happy with mine"

He didn't even smile.

Maybe he's exhausted from all the yellow tit jokes flying round the town.
