Demolition

At long last demolition has begun on a contravertial building project in our town. The local grammar school built in the1930’s became a 6th form college but then became not fit for purpose . It was sold to a developer. The original planning permission was refused and the builder started to demolish the building and was stopped by the council by order. That was over a year ago. This week demolition began after revised planning permission was granted to build a new hair and beauty faculty and 400 homes and a town square with stores and an open park. The latter was protected so had to be kept. People who went to the grammar school wanted it to become a listed building! It had been empty for years as it was unfit for purpose and the college was housed in a temporary erected building
