West Virginia's teachers leave the past!

The 9 day walkout is finally over for the teachers of West Virginia with a 5% pay raise for them and all state workers. I'm not thrilled that Medicaid funds among others are on the list of areas to be cut to fund the raise, but teachers deserve/need a living wage. There must be other waste to cut to properly fund both. West Virginia is one of our poorest states and the teachers are poorly paid, ranking 48th in the States in 2016. Now, it's thankfully back to the classroom for these devoted workers and their  277, 000 students.  Will the teachers of Oklahoma be next?

Many children in West Virginia are dependent on their school free lunch program. I read that West Virginia teachers prepared food for the children before going on strike and continued to try to feed them during the nine days. What's wrong with this picture?

For the Record,
This day came in cold with lots of news about the next nor'easter approaching Wednesday night.

All hands glad the children and teachers of West Virginia will soon be back to the business of learning.
