My happy little life

"Against all odds" which was the first of this body of work, and my personal favourite, has gone off to it's new home. This piece represents months of hard work, trials and an awful lot of errors, trying to achieve something I was told I wouldn't be able to. It represents everything to me about a handmade piece of art or craft. The finished piece is lovely, but what went before it, what had to be done to get there can't be expressed. When you buy something mass produced from a shop, you add a little to their profit margins. When you buy something which has been handmade, you're not just buying something individual. You're validating the work and choices an artist has made, telling them that it's worthwhile, and encouraging and enabling them to continue.

A lovely start to the week
