Got that phone call every parent dreads, your child in pain waiting for an ambulance and you are 260 miles away. Should I wait at home for news or get in the car and go to him? Well, for me it's a no brainier. Here I am in Newcastle. Tom slipped on ice landed badly with his arm trapped in railings which yanked it out of the shoulder socket, his cries for help unheard, he had to free the dislocated arm himself in what sounds like an incredibly painful manoeuvre. Here he is still on his morphine high. Back to hospital tomorrow.
