I carried a .... cabbage.

We got a little more snow this morning. That lethal “just enough to hide the ice on the pavements and fool you into thinking it was snow covered” type of snow. So we had a slightly precarious walk to band this morning. Katie was quite excited to go to band with the borrowed wooden clarinet she has from B at the moment. She was less excited when faced with the reality as the keywork on it leaves something to be desired and she ended up with jams several times that the tutor had to come rectify with her. I was however very grateful that she managed to not trash her reed as I realised all her spares are in her own case which is at the repairers!

After band we were going to Bs to pick a better clarinet because Katie has an important assessment tomorrow. She was lending katie her (very expensive and lovely) pride and joy clarinet. So we had decided to buy her some flowers to say thank you. We got to the market and the stall wasn’t there because of the snow. So Katie chose her a cabbage instead. We did then pass a new flower shop and they had cute baby hyacinths outside which is one of Bs favourites (and mine too) so we bought her one of those to give her after the comedy cabbage moment!

Right after we had collected the posh clarinet, the repairer texted to say she’d managed to get Katies clarinet fixed ahead of the expected time! So after a play on the “nice but made
Mummy nervous” clarinet, We returned it to b and went to collect Katies. We were made aware that part of it had always been not right and had been put right but that meant different which katie wasn’t impressed about. She was quite grumpy in the car. It went quiet and I realised she was nodding off. She didn’t quite manage to go to sleep and came inside the house in a foul mood so I suggested she go to her bed. She slept for 90 minutes! I thought it might be a massive mistake that came back to haunt me but she was in bed not much after 7.30, looking very ready for sleep. I hope she’s just catching up, not sickening for something. Before she went to bed we had a thorough practice of her assessment work, did her stretches and decided today was definitely a very tired katie afternoon! But she’s as ready as she can be for tomorrow, in the circumstances of her clarinet being out of action all week.
