Vallastaden
This morning we went walkies a little further from Elisabet and Alice’s home to an area of the city called Vallastaden. This district of Linköping contains a brand new innovative and eco-friendly housing development - a ‘smart city’. It includes almost 1000 diverse homes, designed and created by 40 different developers. There are family residences, a school, student housing and supported retirement living.
The sun came out while we were there and I really enjoyed the walk while looking at all the different types of architecture and various building materials. Alice was able to explore a bit and I found 2 geocaches.
We got home just in time to watch the first day of this weekend’s cross-country ski races - the first since the Olympics. This weekend’s races took place in Lahti in Finland and today were the sprint races. The men’s race final was particularly exciting with a surprise win by Italy’s Pellagrino who showed some good tactics to finish ahead of the expected winner - Klaebo from Norway. Unfortunately, although they both qualified, the two British skiers - Musgrave and Young -did not get beyond the quarter finals.
We had a shorter walk in the afternoon, enjoying the bright blue sky and sunshine, a snooze , dinner and a chillaxing evening. I’m beginning to feel like I’m on vacation!
For Alice’s version of today, read her blip here.
