(Not) Gone Fishing

More snow overnight, made worse by high winds causing drifting so that in some places the depth exceeded over 2 feet.  I had a quick walk around the estate first thing, in the hope of seeing something worth photographing.

This heron met the bill.  The local pool was completely iced over, making fishing a no-go for him, but despite that he was hanging around checking things out.  I was happy that he stayed in this position long enough to get a few shots, as he has an annoying habit of flying off just as I lift the camera to the eye!
