President Macron Comes Calling

This afternoon as we headed to our nearby Carrefour market, we saw two black vans side by side opposite the gate on the left; they were facing up the street, having doubtless entered the wrong way. The fellow on the right had a video camera and a microphone, clearly a TV journalist. "Qu'est-ce qu'il y a?" [What's up?] I asked. "Emmanuel Macron" was the answer--no idea when he'd be leaving (I didn't ask what he was doing). As we approached Rue Tolbiac at the top of the street we saw Macron's police escort with their motorcycles (in the background in this image); there were at least four in their blue, black and yellow outfits.  I took this shot coming back; we had seen the vans backing through the gate (it's the entry to a large courtyard of a large apartment building). We didn't stick around, and there was nothing on the evening news.  We'll never know what was up :)
