Snow tracks

I've been a good boy and have paid heed to the status red declaration and stayed indoors to let the nasty blizzard pass by. Well … I did put on my studded overshoe things and ventured up the driveway to turn on the car's engine (I know: not necessary, but let's just say I'm old-fashioned). That's when I noticed two things — (1) the overnight snow had drifted rather dramatically in places, and (2) I'd had a feathered visitor at some stage (and had left my own tracks too).

I've indulged in a bit of pooh-poohing about the whole Status Red things and the stay-indoors warnings. I mean to say, the snow had been much less than it was back in 2010/11 and the 'blizzard' that launched its attack on the battened-down hatches overnight had turned out to be a bit of a damp squib. Until mid afternoon today, that is. I was amusing myself putting together a photo story sort of thing about our time in Stockholm last year when I spotted a change in the quality of the light outside. A quick check established that the blizzard had decided to return — with a vengeance this time. I'd seen people passing along the road earlier and they'd seemed quite comfortable about it all. Now, however, anybody passing looked far from comfortable and was either being blown along or finding it difficult to make headway. Maybe 'the authorities' got it right after all.
