Ancient tar boiler, Munnar, Kerala
Day 15 (02/03) Kodaikanal to Munnar, Kerala.
It took exactly 6 hours and that despite an additional 10km diversion. That took us along some real country roads, much in poor condition. However, we did meet up with the local tar brigade patching as they went. When did you last, or perhaps ever, see a tar boiler like that.
As with our previous transfer, this started with downhill twisted stuff, continued with some fast stuff, then back up into the hills and to tea country.
Our hotel is high on a hillside but the view is only of trees, blocking the valley below. It's other failing is NO BEER, but our driver gallantly offered to go get some. 2 hours later he did return, with warm Kingfishers. There's no fridge! Ah well, one has to suffer for ones foibles.
Extras illustrate the state of the diversion road, Cattle hazard, Bus avoiding both human and animal casualties, and road rules – you are kidding.
WiFi great in this place, which is as about remote as we have been so far, so have been able to get in touch with home via WhatsApp. Brilliant app, but who is paying???
Who cares.

PS Just had to add tonight's sunset, through the jungle outside our hotel. Beautiful, and worth the tortuous drive.
