Mud Chief
The Mud Chief took his Mud Men out into the school garden all day today: we were making our Mud God.
Well, a scarecrow for Chatsworth really, but you've got to enjoy a narrative haven't you?
The school has been asked to make some scarecrows for the Chatsworth kitchen gardens as part of their Halloween celebrations. We are making a total of four, and I am working with 13 boys outdoors using just natural materials. So far we have massacred used some of the willow to weave a 3D torso, arms and legs and have started to dress him in leaves. Although currently headless, he should be completed tomorrow and I will certainly be blipping him.
I started them off this morning by applying the ceremonial mud design on my cheeks and forehead before going over a few tribe rules. Half of them thought I was mad and the other half went straight for it themselves, enjoying the muddy benefits. However, one of them went a bit too far and decided on the full mud-pack effect; he looked a complete state, but I bet his skin is lovely and soft this evening! Three of them then complained that it was uncomfortable and asked if they could wash it off!!!!!! They don't make boys like they used to.
