South African Blood Lily

Haemanthus coccineus.  The pots these  sit underneath a tree all summer. The flower appears quite quickly from the dormant bulb the the very large leathery looking leaves follow.  It is so easy to miss seeing these wonderful wax like flowers with the myriad of stamens opening.  Many thanks to Biker Bear for  hosting Flower Friday.
