Spotted: Salamander

This morning we spotted this salamander. Apparently they're common, but I've never seen one in the wild. (If you could call our driveway wild.) It may be hard to tell from this picture, but it was about six inches (15cm) long. I picked up the poor thing and placed it at the bottom of a damp old stone wall before either of the dogs took any interest in it.
