Snow Sherry

I donned my wellies and hat before  digging my car out this morning. I headed gingerly down the road to work, about 10 miles. Fortunately it wasn't terribly busy and I managed to make it in, along with my other colleagues who had equally difficult journeys.
I slipped a couple of times on the pavement during my visits and quite enjoyed driving around the housing estates with road covered in snow.
I wish I'd set off for home earlier than I did. I got stuck on the A689 for over 2.5 hours with about 1.5 miles to get home. There had been a series of incidents on the A69, a two vehicle collision, a jackknifed lorry, then a multi vehicle accident. This caused a huge backlog of traffic on surrounding roads. I did wonder at one point that I might be there all night! I decided to overtake some of the stationary traffic and headed left for the junction into the town - a good decision as I headed home cautiously. We've had more snow and an arctic blizzard, it's going to continue tonight , it's quite scary and I know many of you have similar weather. Stay safe, adhere to the warnings. I'm recovering now with sherry and chocolate!
