Upper Quinault - Project Area 5 Logjam
With the arrival of fall rains river flows on the Quinault came up quite a bit. While this made field work a little problematic, it also gave us an opportunity to see recently completed structures in action. This is an ELJ intended to help divert flow into a constructed high flow channel, disperse streamflow energy, and create pool habitat within the main channel. As you can see, its working really well with about 1/3 of the streamflow entering the high flow channel and with the wave forming off its front there is likely a very large scour hole under surface.
