world book day

When she asks, I tell Anniemay that this is a random set of books.  She argues that it’s not, because I’ve chosen them individually. She’s right up to a point.

I love books.  I read every day.  I have very few actual books left now - mostly non-fiction and large ‘coffee table’ books - photography, art or atlases of some sort.

All of these books in this blip have induced a “wow”  - or a “I didn’t know that…..” at some time or another.  In fact most of the books I’ve kept fall into that category.  In the days before wikipedia, Pears Cyclopedia contained the sum of human knowledge between its covers.

The slim volume on the end is my kindle.  It contains my fiction library - there are hundreds of books in that small space - from Dickens and Terry Pratchett to 48 out of the 75 published Maigret novels.

Anniemay and I share our kindle libraries so I have access to even more books just waiting to be downloaded.  Of course, if the internet finally goes bust then I’m in trouble.  Which is why I have a new and unread copy of War and Peace sitting on my bookshelf.  Just in case.
