State Street Farmers Market, Carlsbad
I was up and out at 7.30am for a lane swim at the same pool as we took Landon to on Sunday. My, the water was warm at 92F and my didn’t it taste peculiar- very salty. Despite all, I completed my target lengths and was soon back for porridge for breakfast.
It was then a leisurely morning, with coffee at Peets Coffee House and a stroll around the Bressi Village shops and gardens. Lunch was a sort of fish finger sandwich made from the fish fillets from yesterday which I’d put in the wrong section of the fridge-freezer and had defrosted overnight.
After lunch we drove to another trail around the Lake Calavera Preserve which incorporated the Solar Trail. This trail was around a mile long and set out to show the relative distance between the sun and all the planets in between including the now named dwarf planet Pluto. The Preserve was very intertesting with lots of information boards but poor directional signage. Difficult to find the trailheads too as there is very little in the way of road signs to point you in the right direction.
Our final stop was at the Carlsbad Village Market in State Street which we had first visitied last October. . Although only short it was a very good market and we were able to sample lots of locally grown fruit and other produce. The artisan baker was interesting and formed todays blip
Finally, back to the house to prepare some more fruit salad and to catch up with Landon after his first day in childcare. He seemed to have lapped up all the attention and was in good form until refusing to go to sleep despite some monstrous yaws.
