Bunny Street
My Dear Fellows & Dear Princess Normal,
There is a street in the CBD called Bunny Street. Every time I walk down it I think it must be the most adorable street name in the world.
I expect you are going to send me replies saying that you live near "Teddy Bear Crescent" or "Pixie Nose Lane" now.
Of course, adorable names are not really as much fun as naughty ones, which we collect like valuable coinage. Bokhara still talks about his visit to the town of "Assw@nk" in Africa. Meanwhile, Lisa proudly visited "Dildo" and "Spread Eagle" in Canada.
And of course, we have a picture of Er Indoors posing next to a "Tw@tt" sign in Shetland.
I've just done some Googling. Apparently there is a "Shag Point" in New Zealand, where couples go to... well - you know. And there's also "Cape Foulwind". I expect I'll be going there on my own.
As for Australia, I see there's a "Prominent Nob", a "Peculiar Knob" and a "Double Knob" (which certainly is peculiar). There's also a "Curly Dick", a "Bumbang Island" and a "Mount Buggery".
Also, "Pensioner's Fanny".
The USA is lagging behind in silly name entertainment. I can see there's a "B*stard" a "Flasher" and an "Intercourse" but these are pretty dull. Thank goodness for "Cat's Dingleberries" in Alaska.
I think I want to move there.
Anyway. Sorry. I digress. Today I went to the pet store to get peanut cake for the birds. Those little guys go BONKERS for it. I find it remarkable. The first time I put one out, it sat there all day because they did not know what it was. But in the end, it disappeared.
The next time I put one out in the morning. And then looked again 10 minutes later.
Gone.
Vanished.
CONSUMED.
They had, apparently, decided that they like it. But how do they remember? How did they realise it was the same thing? Their little birdy memories must be really good.
So anyway, I put them out regularly now, and Punky and Jasper sit entranced as a BIRD FRENZY takes place outside. But it never lasts long and then there are only crumbs.
While I was at the pet store I went to look at the animals, which I should never do. I always want to adopt everything and come home with my pockets full of hamsters. It was the same today. I found myself wondering what Punky & Jasper would make of this sweet little bunny.
He even came right up to the glass to say hello. "Take me home," he said. "I LOVE you." I could imagine myself stroking those long silky ears, as he cuddled up on my lap.
But. Three things.
- Jasper would eat him
- I think bunnies do that "THUMPATHUMPATHUMP" thing with their back foot when they want something? I do not think this would go down well with the flat downstairs
- I could never feel completely secure about eating sultanas in the flat ever again
So I had to leave Brer Rabbit at the shop, which made me sad. But at least I got to see BIRD FRENZY when I got home. The birds are almost like pets. And yes, Jasper would eat them, too.
