Yellow Fly!

Just when I think I’ve seen all there is to see in my garden another strange creature comes along. This wee fly was about 5mm long, including that amazing tail. I had to blow the shot up 200% to show it off.

This morning the last of the three praying mantis nymphs I have been observing on the jerusalem artichokes made the change to adulthood- a beautiful female. Her customary spot is close to that of the one that became an adult male. See extra shot. The female is on the left and the male on the right.
