Parasol
'I'm alright Jack!' they seemed to say as I was the one without a brolly!
Westonbirt Arboretum was going to be a pointless exercise today - no sun just rain, so instead I found myself in one of the borders lying full length in wellies, on a mac taking this shot. A tad muddy..yes.. and a tad damp. They were sitting in a small group under my David Austin which unfairly, I thought, dripped on my newly dried hair. Sorry that is a bit girlie but that's the way it was! AND why, why was it so dratted difficult?
The Shaggy Parasol, Macrolepiota rhacodes is, as it says on the tin, a macro of it's relative the Parasol, being much smaller, with an umbrella of about 8cms which starts off as an egg shape. I do love the patterns on it's cap. Edible but can cause an allergic response even after cooking and I'm not too sure about the Life Insurance to risk it!
