Dredging on the Cotswold Canal
I walked to work along the canal towpath. Wore my back brace. The effect was to make me walk like a robot. However...
The canal was frozen in stretches, an unusual sight. Warp and Weft, the barges that carry away the dredged-up debris, were moored by the bank, but the Dredger was working hard, with smoke coming out of the chimney. I felt as if I was watching a scene from another century.
My aromatherapy class was allowed to go ahead, despite there being only two students. Next week, there'll be more, I hope. The students certainly got my undivided attention!
Afterwards I collected my new glasses (2 pairs) from town. The distance lenses help a bit when I'm watching Pointless. New TV might help, too.
Steve has stocked up on food in case we get snowed in(!), and lit a fire. The snow came and went in about five minutes. Let's hope That's Not It, after the fire weather predictions.
Ian, my friend Una's former house mate from London phoned, and was able to tell me a lot more about her final few days. This has helped, but recent events still seem like a ghastly nightmare. I'll try to write up my story about Una to go with yesterday's blip. Thanks for all the amazing messages of support I've received. The Facebook messenger group set up in Una's memory is proving a great comfort, too, with messages and memories pouring in from all over the world.
