Akaroa on a Wet Day

It poured with rain during the night as predicted, and we awoke to snow on the hills behinds us. The rain did not abate so we had to find something to do inside.
We had been given a couple of stems of these very large King Protea. See also PolS entry from her garden a few days ago. They are so big and heavy it is hard to find a vase to hold them.
I decided to do a close up of the outside petals.
