Preening white heron at sunrise
A beautiful start to a great day. A boat ride on the Mahinapua Stream at sunrise to the lake, with a group of from the Nature Photography Club. A calm, mild morning, with the forest, the lake and the birds. What a way to start the day. This white heron (kotuku) was preening and feeding along the stream edge and not bothered at all by the boat or the people. Have included a couple of extras from the trip that day, the Dorothy Falls, and the forest edge. Later in the day the Hokitika Gorge, and then sunset.
