Bozar Flags--Brussels
This morning we visited the Center for Fine Arts, better known as Bozar (a sort of corruption of the French beaux arts). This is a steep shot of the facade (the building is designed by the Belgian Art Nouveau architect Victor Horta, whose museum we visited two days ago). Bozar is a fancy, impractical place, with stairs for every destination and no elevators (and we had to descend at least 80 steps from our tram). And its prices are high: 14 Euros per exhibition for us as seniors (a discount of 2 Euros)--they had three shows, but we only paid for one, on Spanish Still Life from the 17th to the 20th centuries (we had no time for Fernand Leger, displayed here). The Spanish show was excellent, though I would have hoped for more works from the best artists. Returning on the tram I managed the extra--one of dozens of architectural curiosities in the city. After sandwiches for lunch in our hotel room we headed back to Paris on the Thalys train--again a totally smooth trip in less than ninety minutes.
