OIGNONS DE ROSCOFF

Whenever I see these onions I can't resist the impulse to buy. Put it down in part to nostalgia - but the best parts are the subtlety of the taste & the colour.

Fond memories of Breton onion sellers on bicycles strung with great tresses of Roscoff onions, pedalling their wares around the streets of Cornwall, South Wales & the West of England.

The tresses were bigger in those days & the prices more democratic, but the quality remains true.

Hey - didn't Scotland do well against England yesterday to win the Calcutta Cup 25-13!! OK - I was brought up with a received English accent, but I was born in north Wales to a Welsh father & an Orkadian mother...
