grooming?/preening?

 watched these two (from my sofa) for about 15mins - the one on the left appeared to be grooming/preening the one on the right. I know mammals do this but I hadn't realised that birds would care for each other.

Wasn't sure if preening just referred to birds caring for themselves, grooming is used for mammals caring for another.
