Life in Sunny Dubai

Pink Pledge Tree

Finally got ourselves to Bur Juman to collect our watches - both needed new batteries.

Bur Juman is one of our "local" malls and is 20 years old this year (that's old in Dubai!) They were the first ones to start the Breast Cancer Awareness program about 12 or so years ago.

Go large to read about the Pink Pledge Tree... For 5 dirhams (around 90p or $1.35) you can dedicate a ribbon to someone who has/survived breast cancer. I haven't yet done one for G! It will be done on the next visit which should be before the month ends as there is one last thing I want to blip to finish the Pink Challenge that some of us blippers are doing for October.

G managed to see a dermatologist today; she has had a severe allergic reaction to E45 cream which none of the staff in the radiology dept could identify or were aware of. They just continued with the treatment and told G to keep using the cream. Fortunately she sussed out the problem herself 6 days ago and has got on the road to recovery but it will take a little while longer for her to be back to "normal."

21.10.12 and G reckoned she deserved an icecream but it's not really a special date so she got a (Dunkin') doughnut instead - pink one! A nurse booked her into a "Be Beautiful" workshop at the American Hospital and that was interesting! A workshop designed by a group of volunteers to help women undergoing cancer treatment to cope with their deteriorating looks/dry skin!! Lots of makeup products/wigs there for patients to try. G painted in eyebrows... it was entertaining to say the least!!

Thank you for stars for yesterdays blip! My highest rated blip yet!
