Last Night

Ate at a restaurant on the beach, and watched the sun set while the kids all played in the sand.
Had a thoroughly great week. Lovely to spend the week with our friends, and the warm weather and nearly constant sunshine was a pleasant break from the miserable summer we've suffered at home.

First time I've ever been to one of the 'resort'-type places on the med. I confess I had pretty low expectations and a stereotypical image planted firmly in my head. And those places exist - we visited one place where I don't think I heard a Spanish voice in 5 hours and *everything* was written exclusively in English. I find that depressing, but then those places are probably not aimed at me ;)
On the other hand, standing with your feet on the warm sand, staring out to sea and listening to the waves wash up on the pebbles and shells, you can forget all about a Full English Breakfast (all day), you can ignore the high-rise apartment blocks that will block out the sun long before it really sets and just enjoy it for the bits you want to think about. I miss it already.
