Spring Madness...
Einstein said that a good working definition of madness was doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. He'd have been impressed, therefore, by the predictability of my internal dialogue every year about this time, when the snowdrops come out, and the winter aconites show themselves yellow on the woodland banks above the river.
Me 1: Look look! Flowers in the wood! Spring-spring-spring!
Me 2: Calm down woman. They're WINTER flowers. It's WINTER.
Me 1: Spring! Spring!
Me 2: Oh good grief.
Me 1: (skipping) If winter's here, can spring be far behind?
Me 2: You said that last year and then in March there were snowdrifts.
Me 1: Can't you hear the birds? They're all atwitter and excited because it's SPRING!
Me 2: It's not spring. It's January 26th. It's just sunny. Get a grip.
Me 1: I must get online and buy some T-shirts.
Me 2: Ne'er cast a clout till May is out.
Me 1: Long sleeved T-shirts.
Me 2: Thermal ones I hope.
