The Broken Tooth
Setting off from Overbeck Bridge in the Wasdale Valley, conditions seemed unpromising. By the time we'd climbed up to the hause at Dore Head the cloud was beginning to disperse. By Red Pike we were in full sunshine and the views from Steeple down into Ennerdale were superb. Too many shots to choose from as always on a weekend, but finally decided on this one for Saturday. Taken from Dore Head an looking across to the broken tooth to the left of the path up to Stirrup Crag below Yewbarrow. A glimpse of the Wasdale valley floor and the bulk of Lingmell across the valley emerging from the cloud. Superb day on the fells followed by the Joss Naylor Challenge dinner at Santon Bridge with Joss presenting the tankards. Celebrating the sixteen folk who completed the crossing this year from Pooley Bridge to Greendale Bridge - 48 miles over the Lakeland summits in times ranging from 12 hours for 50 year olds and up to 24 hours for those over 65. A great night was had by all :)
