Possession is Nine -Tenths of the Law

Snowy, our resident Douglas Squirrel, had been the only squirrel taking advantage of our bird feeder -- the invasive grey squirrels are too big to get through the wire mesh. He was not happy when another male made an appearance today. It was immediately obvious that there would not be any sharing.

It was amusing to see them chasing each other all over the deck and up and down the posts, but it wasn't a game to them -- survival of the fittest. Snowy lost -- we'll miss him.

The winner's tail had a straggly end that looked as if he'd had a close encounter with a cat. That inspired Cynthia to name him Tufty.
