Wet wet wet

Everything is very wet today.  I had to shake most of the droplets off this seed head in order to be able to focus on it.

We are waiting for the tail end of Cyclone Gita to hit us.  Christchurch has called a State of Emergency but there is not one out for Timaru area at this stage.  It is frustrating, knowing that the weather bomb is going to hit overnight, but not being able to make a call on whether or not to close school until it does hit and we see what that looks like for us.

Frustrating mostly for parents who don't know yet whether their children need to be organised for school in the morning or not.  My greatest concern is that if we stay open, then one of the rivers rises,  I will lose half my staff who will have to rush to get home before the bridges close.  Can't run a school with only half a complement of teachers!

Still, we wait and see what happens overnight, and count ourselves very fortunate that we have power on and homes to wait in - unlike many in Tonga.
