The alpacas feeding across the Painswick valley

This is my last working day of the week and I again had a few minutes whilst John prepared our snack lunch.

From the same vantage point as I have been blipping from all week, i used my longest lens to show the alpacas feeding in their pens. They are on the far side of the Painswick valley and have been brought to this land by the new owner of the old Hammonds Farm.

The farm's land lies between Wick Street on the hillside above, and the Painswick stream at the valley bottom. Wick Street is a very ancient trackway and was the main route up the valley, being dry, before tar macadam was introduced on the turnpike enabling carts and wagons to avoid getting stuck in the mud. Now Wick Street is a delightful minor road with many small lanes crossing it also marking out other ancient tracks.
