La Rue du Colombier
Last Sunday I blipped a pigeonaire in St. Peters. Today I travelled into Torteval to blip something along similar lines. The tower like structure shown is known as a 'Colombier' and is a large dovecot. This is the last surviving example in Guernsey and is recorded as being in existence in 1328 ! It is known as the combier of Fief de Janin Besnard. A Fief is a feudal term and was an area of land granted to knights, barrons and bishops in return for loyalty and support.
