Au-revoir cousin.....

....we said goodbye to a dear family cousin Jean-Pierrer Hautier today. He was a radio & TV broadcaster, a committed family man and a great lover of Scotland too. I represented the Scottish branch of the family in the packed Brussels cathedral and spoke briefly to congregation in French and English. As JP would say, "Scott, tu parle le francais comme un vache espagnol!" (you speak French like a Spanish cow). I felt pretty choked when Amazing Grace was played. After we went to cemetery and then on to cousin Michel's for lunch.

Later, I joined Fabienne, Constance, Elisabeth and their boyfriends for dinner and a few drinks in the centre ville. The handled themselves with great dignity.
