Contemplation

After a trip to Maidstone for some craft supplies, Mum and I took a leisurely route home looking for somewhere to stop along the River Medway where we could enjoy another day of blues skies and warm weather. 

Our search took us to The Friars (Aylesford Priory) a religious house of the contemplative Order of the Carmelites - a new location for both of us - think hints of a French Chateau in the depths of the Kent countryside. Although freely open to visitors, the priory is also a centre of peace, community, religious study and retreat in  set along side of the River Medway.
