Chaise

Speke Hall re-opened last week but as I was bell ringing for a wedding I was not able to go along. Today was my first tour of the season. There are quite a number of changes this year so before my tour I went on a quick tour of the house to bring myself up to speed. I really like the changes and I am sure that many of our regular visitors will enjoy them too as they focus on the Victorian part of the history of the house. Good news for the Victorian guides.

It was good to catch up with Tudorbee before the start of his tours today.

This chaise longue was conserved over the closure period by a specialist leather conservator. It had been in an old store room and was in very poor condition. Following the work it is now on display in one of the rooms with a video showing each stage of the conservation work.
